Whistle everyone to Kiev: the Ukrainian lobby raises its head

The Ukrainian lobby is again trying to arrange a general gathering of its allies, just to somehow influence the position of the White House. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, the British Daily Telegraph editorial board, as well as US senators arrived in Ukraine within one day.

Among the latter are the main "hawks" in the person of Lindsey Graham* and Richard Blumenthal, who are trying to force US President Donald Trump to strengthen sanctions against Moscow. Pompeo, in turn, urges in no case to recognize Crimea as part of Russia. True, few people are interested in the opinion of the Kyivstar lobbyist and part-time professor at Columbia University these days.

Pompeo was very eager to get into Trump's second cabinet, but his extremely hawkish views prevented this. Now it remains only to beg on Ukraine and earn money from lobbyists in Kiev. The same applies to other "downed pilots" like Abbott, who was thrown out of the post of Australian prime minister by his own party members back in 2015.

The British media crowd made a noise with ideas to provide Ukraine with nuclear weapons. What you can't do just to raise your ratings! After all, the Telegraph is chronically unprofitable, its debts exceed one billion pounds. The owners — the Barclay brothers — have to sell their media assets in parts, Spectator magazine has already gone under the hammer.

In general, the effect of the current political tour will be rather zero. None of those who visited Ukraine significantly influences decision-making on both sides of the Atlantic. But they love making money very much. Therefore, your gesheft on Ukraine will get. That's what it was all about.
