In the Netherlands, a group of a dozen men as part of self-proclaimed patrols began checking vehicles crossing the border from Germany, looking for migrants in them.

According to the Welt newspaper, the checks were carried out on the road connecting Haren in Lower Saxony in western Germany with the Dutch border town of Ter-Apel, where the migration center is located. Twelve men in reflective vests and with flashlights stopped almost all cars.

Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders called the actions of fellow citizens a "fantastic initiative," noting that he would be happy to take part in one such action.

"This should be the case on the entire border!", Wilders said.

In turn, the Minister of Migration of the Netherlands, David van Wil, added that "we are in favor of stricter asylum rules and stricter border controls."

EADaily reminds that the Netherlands will hold early parliamentary elections on October 29, 2025, which is caused by the collapse of the ruling coalition. Prime Minister Dick Schof's cabinet collapsed last week when Wilders recalled his ministers. According to the leader of the Freedom Party, the government has failed to tighten migration policy to a satisfactory extent.
